Hydro Guide
Hydroponics Master Guide
Maximum Control for Maximum Yields – The 5 Pillars of Success.
1. pH Control
In hydroponics, pH is the bouncer for nutrients. Outside the window, the plant starves despite fertilizer.
Target value: 5.8 (Range 5.5 - 6.2)
2. EC & Concentration
Precisely control the amount of fertilizer. In hydro, there is no buffer – too much EC will immediately burn the roots.
Flowering: 1.5 - 2.2 mS/cm
3. Oxygen & Temp.
Roots need air to breathe. The warmer the water, the less oxygen it can store.
Ideal Temp: 18°C - 20°C
4. Hygiene & Light
Algae love nutrients and light. Keep your system absolutely light-tight and sterile to prevent root rot.
CRITICAL DANGER: Root Rot (Pythium)
If the water temperature rises above 22°C, there is a risk of bacterial infestation. Check the color of the roots daily: They must be bright white. Brown, slimy roots are a sign of oxygen deficiency or heat.
Daily Checklist:
- Check pH and correct if necessary (5.8).
- Measure EC value (Is it rising? Then the plant is drinking more water than fertilizer).
- Check water temperature (Max. 21°C).
- Visual inspection of roots (White = Healthy).
- Check pump and air supply for function.
